Demonic Farmer Gabo
You have awoken after a thousand-year slumber, and you HUNGER.
Demonic Farmer Gabo is an action clickfest farming-sim premised on a resurrected monkey-demon.
This was made for a Ludum Dare 48 hour game dev compo, I can't recall which one. Maybe LD #11? Anyhow, people didn't seem to really love this game, but I was quite happy with it actually.
It's FRENETIC.

Unzip this to a folder on your desktop and double click "Gabo" or "Gabo.exe" to play.
Gameplay
The key here is to try and make as much money as you can from selling crops, but not letting yourself get too hungry. It's been awhile since I played this game, but I do remember that it's really well-balanced.
Eat your crops to decrease your hunger gauge, but then you won't be able to sell them. Convert your crops to seeds for planting, but then you won't be able to plant them. Use your seeds by the end of the year, but then you might not be able to harvest everything (and thieves will break in and steal some of them.)
Click click click your crops as quickly as possible to harvest them.
Flash Version Coming
Since this game is really fun to play but terribly ugly, I've elected to remake it with prettier graphics and a bit more involved gameplay in FlashPunk. I'm not going overboard but the idea is to make things a bit more fun.
Here is a mockup:

I made a custom, hand-drawn font (2010-03-04) today. It's a lot of work, but worth it over ye olde standard pixele fonte:

Flash Version Update!
Well flashpunk as it turns out is quite fun to work with.
I know nobody is reading this comment section but I thought I'd let you know that the very core of the gameplay mechanic is in place, with seeds firing out of the barn something like in the original game.
The keyword system is what I put together and got working a couple nights ago, it's the basis of the "user interface" for the game; I might scrap it in favour of a button-system we'll see.
Next up: implement the system for growing plants.
what do you mean NO ONE READS THE COMMENT BOARD? I read it!!!
Some more progress... I have the basic crops churning out and growing, and the clicking is working. Some of the graphical flourishes aren't in place yet, but I'm planning to completely redo the graphics.
One idea I've got is for launching, instead of just shooting them at an angle they will go straight up, and straight down, leaving a little scenic "crater" when they do. It should be more amusing!
Wewt, I made a mockup tonight. Looks much better!
Just thought I better post on progress, I haven't worked on this in about a week but might give it a shot tonite. The game is more than half finished, I'd say; most of the new graphics are in and looking great, so I just need to add some more animations, sound effects, tweak the gameplay and so on.
Whew, more work on this. I want to get GaBo finished ASAP so I can start work on my intel game. I think sometimes you need a pusher project to come in behind something and make you finish it up. Hmrn.
Anyhow, I've made much nicer text and button rendering, as well as put together a few key "links" in the sequence. I put a calendar display in the top left as well, so that just leaves a proper hunger meter, scoring etc.
The other day I worked out the clicking of things, so that the hover worked nicely and there was a renderable showing what thing you had clicked.
Ah, this game is so sweet. I'm going to polish it off with some cute animations, a "town map", and some ultra-reverb arcadey sound effects.
